The other Ministry

Sometime ago I was wondering what the right response would be if I felt led to do something that doesn't completely line up with the ministry my husband is doing - not that I've been led to do that - at least not yet (and doubt if it will ever happen).

Let me ask you these questions:
"As Mrs. Pastor, are you expected to always be beside your husband?"
"Is that where and how we will fulfill God's will? "
Is it likely for Mrs. Pastor to have a separate call from her husband's call?"

If you ask me, the answers will be "Yes", "No" & "Yes" -
may sound paradoxical, so let me explain...

Genesis 2:18 says:
Now the Lord God said, It is not good (sufficient, satisfactory) that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper meet (suitable, adapted, complementary) for him. (Amplified)

Every wife - Mrs. Pastor or not - was created to be complementary, not to be in competition, with her husband. To complement, you don't have to be physically standing or sitting beside (or behind) him. You just need to always be beside him in heart and spirit...that's how you will fulfill God's will for both of you.

Now this is not to say that God's will for you is only to help your husband fulfill God's assignment for him...it is a big part though because you cannot claim to fulfill God's will for your life without this big piece. However, as individuals, God also has an assignment that only you can do. You're the best, not the only, person equipped for that call - it may be a separate or distinct call but cannot be a conflicting or competitive call. For instance, your husband may be called to work with people while you work with "paper" (publications) or called to adults and you are gifted with the younger generations...the list is endless.

Whatever that other ministry is it is always complementary and you can fulfill it in the background. It doesn't need to be obvious to anyone else - only God needs to know that you're doing what He's called you to do...beside your husband.
