Some time ago I was a friend and colleague of mine were talking about how much "authority" some Mrs. Pastors like to demand and/or wield.
I also know of some Mrs. Pastors that want to be seen and treated as the Assistant or Associate Pastor of the local assembly where their husbands serve. From one Mrs. Pastor to another, the fact of the matter is:
Except you have been named the Assistant/Associate Pastor,
you are not the Assistant/Associate Pastor.
In my mind, this is a rule whether or not you drive/ride in a car that has the "Pastor" licence plate on it. I know that on occassion because we are our husband's closest and dearest, there is a tendency to pass roles or assignments to us - now that is different because of a fact, you are your husband's help-meet and no-one can compete with you for that God-given position. Neither should you compete for a position God has not given you.
The other thing is: while there is the "Office of the Pastor" - in the scriptures, there is no "Office of the Pastor's Wife."
In Jerermiah 3:15, God promises: And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.*
Ephesians 4:11- Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers.**
Note that God gave Pastors to the church as a gift and gave you to your husband as a gift ->
Prov 19:14b - A sensible wife is a gift from the LORD.***
Prov 18:22 - A man's greatest treasure is his wife-
she is a gift from the LORD.***
Prov 12: 4 - A helpful wife is a jewel for her husband...***
Prov 5:18 - Let your wife be a fountain of blessing for you.**
So as Mrs. Pastor, we really need to be careful...very careful so that our conduct will only result in an outpowering of blessings and not bring the "woe" of God upon our husbands or destroy the people God has committed to his care. Scary...
Jer 10:21 - For the pastors are become brutish, and have not sought the LORD: therefore they shall not prosper, and all their flocks shall be scattered.*
Jer 12:10 - Many pastors have destroyed my vineyard, they have trodden my portion under foot, they have made my pleasant portion a desolate wilderness.*
May God help us do what He has called & let others do what He has called them to
...and bless us all.
