Do you know the history of "Mentoring"? Just in case you don't, please take a moment to look it up now...even if you do, I suggest you refresh your memory just so you we're on the same page. It won't take too long so you can come and continue reading this piece which I know you're looking forward to doing...
Despite what we have read or been told, the truth is that Mentoring is a scriptural concept.
I remember discussing Titus 2: 3-4 with someone a few years ago and saying that: we're gradually becoming the "older women."
Tell older women to live their lives in a way that shows they are dedicated to God. Tell them not to be gossips or addicted to alcohol, but to be examples of virtue. 4 In this way they will teach young women to show love to their husbands and children, (Titus 2: 3-4 - GWT)
No one understand a woman better than another woman - hence we need each other.**
This actually reminds me of when I just got married. Unlike today, we didn't really have a Christian couple to look up to - not that they didn't exist it was just that...we were more different than similar - or so I naively thought...and I was right in some cases. Well the rest is history.
Fast forward to today, I find my husband and I having to mentor couples and sometimes men and women respectively...and it takes time. There are no quick fixes. Taking the time to Teach, Inspire, Motivate, Empower and also pray with (& for) others can be draining but well worth it. The reason is simple, with TIME they will become other people's mentors.
Apostle Paul put it this way:
"For you must teach others those things you and many others have heard me speak about. Teach these great truths to trustworthy men who will, in turn, pass them on to others." (2 Timothy 2:2 - Living Bible)

God has called you to Leadership for a time such as this.
It's all about TIME-ing...give your time to mentor others.
