"Let me get back to you on that one..."

When I saw this picture, I fell in love with it...

I'm sure you know why... Exactly, because it is so true.

I then wondered what church members will do if they ever see their pastor's wife wearing this. Oh for a "Caught on Camera" video. It will definitely go at least one of 2 ways:

  1. Some people may heave a sigh of relief and say "great to know she's human."
  2. Some others may say "What?! How is that possible?" and then leave in search for someone else who they expect or hope has ALL the answers...and who they definitely won't find except they decide to only talk to our Omniscient God.
Be that as it may, in all the years I've been a Christian, I'm yet to find a Mrs. Pastor or Pastor for that matter who has all the answers.

To be clear, I'm not saying that we should not seek out answers, we should just not pretend that we have all the answers all the time...

I believe it is ok to say, "let me get back to you on that one..." because someone could come to you with a situation that you have never experienced or heard of and you need the Holy Spirit to help you. Our Perfect Example Jesus even had a "let Me get back to you moment" in John 8
4“Teacher,” they said to Jesus, “this woman was caught in the act of adultery. The law of Moses says to stone her. What do you say?” They were trying to trap him into saying something they could use against him, but Jesus stooped down and wrote in the dust with his finger. They kept demanding an answer, so he stood up again and said, “All right, but let the one who has never sinned throw the first stone!” Then he stooped down again and wrote in the dust. (NLT)
As we head into this year, remember that though you're the Pastor's wife, you don't have to have all the answers. You can always go to your Source, God, Who has all the answers and get back to people with the answers. People will appreciate you for your humility and humanity.
