Who are your two-thirds?

Chatting with my Prayer Partner (PP) brought this interesting topic up. After you read this, I pray you are prompted to do exactly what we did after our discussion - pray for your husband...

In 1 Sam 30: 8 - 10, we read of David going on an "assignment" as directed by God
Then David asked the Lord, “Should I chase after this band of raiders? Will I catch them?” And the Lord told him, “Yes, go after them. You will surely recover everything that was taken from you!” So David and his 600 men set out, and they came to the brook Besor. 10 But 200 of the men were too exhausted to cross the brook, so David continued the pursuit with 400 men. (NLT - italics mine)
It was interesting that all 600 men lost someone &/or something - yet 200 men couldn't go far. Rather than being derailed, David continued with 400.

My PP and I wondered who the two-thirds in our respective churches are. We then prayed that our husbands will not be discouraged, distracted or derailed from what God has asked them to do by the one-third.

Comparatively, David even had more men with him than Gideon whose army gradually dropped to 300 men from 32,000 - less than 10% (see Judges 7: 1-7). It's so interesting that in David's case he was going after what belonged to him while Gideon was called by God to deliver all the Israelites from their oppressors.** You'd think that Gideon would have needed (and had) more people based on the scope of his assignment - God thought and did differently.

Ministry takes a lot from us and sometimes we think that we need a lot of people. Indeed, as they say "many hands make light work."* However. over and over, God reminds us that He is not moved by numbers - He's moved by faith in Him.

David and Gideon were sure about what God had asked them to do, went and returned victorious. Whether or not you know who your two-thirds are, focus on the only One who has called you and will support you.

God makes provision - men and materials - for His vision...God is Who we need.
