Focus on the principle...

You may not agree with me, but I sincerely believe that as Mrs Pastor we can learn the wife of any leader. I've written on a few of them: Mrs S. Elkanah,* Mrs Aquila,** Queen Vashti.***

Now we're talking about a Queen who was also a Princess.**** She was definitely doubly royal, positioned for impact and maybe someone other women envied or looked up to. Paradoxically, although her name means: “chaste, free from carnal connection.”*****
Infact, I'm yet to meet anyone who has named their children after her.

I was struck by a verse talking about her and as I meditated and asked why that was possible, my attention was drawn to these verses in Proverbs 31:
11 Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value.
12 She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life. (NIV)

These are verses I've written about before but the verse that started all this was:
1 Kings 19:1 - When Ahab got home, he told Jezebel everything Elijah had done, including the way he had killed all the prophets of Baal. (NLT, emphasis mine)

I was stunned...

Some women "complain," ok comment that their husbands don't tell them about their day... And here was a king relaying everything to his queen. I began to wonder, what was it about Jezebel that made her husband have "full confidence" in her? Maybe because she did what she could to "help" him. Of course, we know it was really "fool confidence" because every action she took resulted in more harm than good - for them and generations unborn.

So let's focus on the principle, not the practice. Here was a woman who wanted the "best" - by her definition - for her husband and did what she could - though evil - to get it for him.
She was definitely interested in her husband. Therein lies the key.

The interest in your husband is what Proverbs 31:12 is referring to...
So if you really want your husband to open up about his day, be ready to listen quietly.
And as Christians, we can do something about everything - just get down on your knees...

So we can learn from Jezebel that when a husband trusts that his wife has his back, he'll open his heart and mouth to her. However, in "helping" our husbands get their heart desires, always do the right thing so we can say he has "full confidence" not "fool confidence" in you.
